Hotel has no reception area as such and all arrivals have to enter the public bar to be checked in. The rooms were adequate but due to the location of an indian restaurant at the front of the hotel opening the window resulted in the room quickly smelling of cooking food. The breakfast was very nice but again served in the public bar with only one waitress on duty who was rushed off her feet. Due to everything being centred around the public bar I feel it is more suited for backpackers and the like as opposed to families.
A traditional hotel attached to a pub. Clean. Big spacious rooms. Across the road from a supermarket. Many restaurants surrounding the hotel. In the main street.
Our front street facing room was a bit noisy. The sun shone through the light coloured curtains.
Hotel in need of upgrading/decoration etc. Breakfast disappointing - very greasy and bacon very fatty and hard.
The hotel was very easy to find. There was no problem parking outside. We were only there for 12 hours, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. The service was very good. For the first time ever for us in a small hotel, our luggage was carried up to the room on the second floor.
Breakfast was in the bar which was a little gloomy as there were no windows.
The room was lovely, very comfortable, the staff very courteous and it was so easy to find, parking etc. and we thought we might stay another night but at 9pm the entertainment began in the bar downstairs and the music was extremely loud from then until midnight. The next night there was going to be karaoke, so, no, we moved on. The breakfast was very good but served in the bar??
Only th loud music, had I known beforehand this would have put me off booking, yes I do like all sorts of music but not at this rate of decibels, sorry.
The room was large n cosy( we were given a family room, lovely).....plenty of towels, fluffy n fresh, bedding was nice too....beds made up nice n neat..... breakfast in the morning was substancial......staff were very pleasant, all in all, Very good value, would definitely stay again.
Decor in the bar a bit dated, but then again we didnt go just to stay in the hotel,
The friendliness of the staff and the location were excellent. Vicky makes the hotel what it is. Nothing is too much for her and is very helpful.
Some of the singers at Saturday nights karaoke. Young Thomas tone deaf lol. Up for a laugh.
Location for visit requirements, friendly staff, dedicated parking, food ok
room overlooked noisy public bar area, room was very shabby but adequate, bathroom beyond 'tired' looking, bathroom cupboard contained dabris including empty beer cans (probably still there)
Staff were friendly without being intrusive good cooked breakfast
Although mostly clean shower curtain in bathroom needed changing
dirrty rooms, room above kitchen costantly smells of food
Comfy room, good breakfast, friendly staff and value for money.
Decent location in the centre of Calender
Some patches of Damp and could do with some TLC
Convenient location and low cost
Eccentricity of hot water supply appeared to result in frequent changes in temperature of water during shower. My room seemed to be located directly above where the Saturday night karaoke took place, until well after midnight. While breakfast was adequate it seemed odd to be served coffee in a teapot . . .
Very good atmosphere, the staff were excellent and the food was good what more do you need
Very friendly staff, nothing was too much
The staff are very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was more than enough, had a problem eating all of it! That said, it was fresh, hot, well cooked and delicious. We all enjoyed our stay very much and the regulars in the bar made us more than welcome. We arrived as guests and left as friends. Will definately return here.
